Sauerkraut Here!
I hate seeing sad animals. For example, there’s a commercial on TV that I avoid like an STD. Every time it comes on I close my eyes, plug my ears, change the channel or leave the room. You know the one I’m talking about, the one featuring gloomy animals while Sarah McLachlan sings a sad song in the background. Well, if you don’t know click here: Super Sad Commercial
Anyways, tonight I was looking on Craigslist when I ran across a black lab puppy in need of a home. He was being offered at a discounted rate because he had a “limp” and the owner assumed no one would want him, unfortunately, he’s probably right. Except me, I tend to love the awkward and dysfunctional things the world has to offer.
Here’s the thing. I love animals, especially dogs. Sure I love puppies, but most people do. However, here’s something you may not know about me, I tend to connect with the older dogs. Simply because I think people find them less desirable in comparison to a puppy, meaning they rarely find homes. Now think about your grandmother, wouldn’t you want your grandmother to have a safe, happy home to finish out her days? I would.
Here’s the point, everyone knows it’s my dream to own an English Bulldog, but at some point in my life I want to adopt older dogs and make their last few years of life as happy and as comfortable as possible. Sadly, because they’re older dogs they could pass away after a few short years, but this would open my home for another elderly dog.
In addition, I have always wanted to volunteer at an animal shelter but I have hesitated for two reasons:
1) I’m extremely allergic to cats and some dogs. Does anyone remember my twitching eye at The Olive Garden? Because I do!
2) I’m not sure my heart can handle it. It would crush me to walk in one day and not see a dog I had been caring for because it never found a home and was murdered.
So, tomorrow, despite my hesitations, I’m going to call and inquire about some volunteer work at the animal shelter. Who knows, maybe they’ll just have me scoop some poop and I won’t have to deal with either of my hesitations. Whatever I can do to help the animals.
Now, the real reason for this post is because I made the mistake of looking online for the black lab puppy I found in the park a few weeks back. Well, I found him… And he still doesn’t have a home. He’s at the animal shelter and he goes by the name “Butch,” this is an actual photo of him...
I am truly heartbroken that this puppy still doesn’t have a home to call his own. So, if you know of any good people who would like a new puppy, please contact me. I would hate to see this little dog get murdered.
That is all.

P.S. Screw Michael Vick and his stupid reality show.

I don't have to tell you about my quest to rescue all animals. Instead of volunteering at the shelter, have you considered fostering Butch? I am sure they would say "yes" and it would save him from euthanasia. You might find that more rewarding, saving a dog than cleaning up dog crap from animals that will be dead tomorrow.
